Frequently Asked Questions
Speakers Directory
How will people find me?
Anyone, anywhere in the world will be able to search for speakers
by name, and/or geographic location, and/or speaking topic and/or accreditation level. So for
instance, if a Singapore bureau wanted a speaker in Adelaide on Sales and Marketing, they
could search for that. Everyone in Adelaide who listed sales and marketing on their topic list
would be shown.
My entry seems very short compared to others. Why?
You can change any of the existing information and add marketing
information of your own. You can do it from the site itself - see below.
If you're an Affiliate member, only your name and contact information
appears on your page. You can still log in and change it in preparation
for full membership, but until you are a full member, visitors to the
site won't see full details on your page.
For how long will I be listed here?
All financial members of NSAA are listed here.
If your membership is not current, you will be recorded as unfinancial
and your name will no longer be listed. So, if you haven't yet paid, do
it now.
Can I link from my own Web site directly to my page on the NSAA site?
Yes, we have created a facility exactly for this purpose. For example,
if your name is Joe Bloggs, your page on the NSAA site has this
address:
http://www.nationalspeakers.asn.au/members/JoeBloggs
You can use this address on your Web site, in e-mail, business
cards, or other marketing material.
Changing Membership Information
Can I have my photograph on my entry?
Yes. Please read the guidelines for sending photos for details.
This facility is available to full members only. If you're an affiliate
member, you can submit your photo for inclusion on the Web site, but
it only appears after you gain full membership.
How do I change my information?
Log in first using the password that's been assigned to you. You will
then see options to change your information and your password.
What if my speaking topic is not one of the available options?
You can request that a new topic be added to the Web site.
Please read the policy on adding new topics.
Can I use formatting, like bold text, italics and bullet points?
Yes, there are a number of formatting options
available.
What if I don't have my own Internet access?
You can edit your own information from any
computer in the world connected to the Internet. A friend, a public library, an Internet Café, the
Golden Wing lounge or Qantas Club, or even some fish and chips shops have a coin operated
Internet terminal. You can edit your information from almost anywhere!
Do I need to tell my chapter of any changes?
No. Each chapter will no longer keep its own database of members'
addresses and contact numbers. They will all be kept on the main
database on the site and be accessed via the Internet.
That means that you will now be responsible for updating your own contact and
marketing information. It means that you will know at any time what details are stored
for you and be able to change them whenever and from wherever you like as often as
you like.
It also means that your chapter will use the information you enter to send all your
mailings and to contact you. The address you enter on the Internet is the address they
will use.
How can I enter marketing information?
You will be able to enter your own marketing information and change it as often as you
like. Your description, your speaking topics, your photograph, your title
- you have complete control over your own information.
You can enter up to 100 words of description, and up to six
speaking topics.
Unless you have already specified them, there are no speaking
topics listed for you. Log in and choose your topics so that people can
find you easily.
If you're an Affiliate member, you can still enter marketing
information, but it won't be publicly visible until you become a
full member.
Can I link my own email address and URL (web site) to my information?
Yes, you can
enter them and they will link automatically to your NSAA entry. That means that once a person
finds you by searching, they will be able to go directly to your site where you can "sell"
yourself however you like.
What if I don't have an email address. Does that matter?
No. But we suggest you get
yourself linked quickly. So much business is being done by email now that you'll simply miss
out if you are not 'on the net'. The National Board of the NSAA now does all of its
communication by email.
Do I have to enter all my contact information?
You can enter all your contact information but choose to keep some
of it private
(It will be accessible to your chapter administrator, but not to general
visitors or other members). For instance, if you don't want to have
your mobile number visible, you can choose to mask it.
To do this, look for a little box marked "Show" next to the field of
information (It's not available on all fields). If you want the
field publicly visible, check the box.
How do I change my accreditation?
The National Secretariat will change your
accreditation directly as part of the overall accreditation process.
If your accreditation is currently incorrect in the database,
contact the National Secretariat () to have it changed.
Security
Are you backing up? Will I need to re-enter everything if there is a malfunction?
The database is backed up regularly, and there are a number of strategies in place to protect
from viruses. We have very professional advice and advice at the cutting edge of the industry.
That doesn't mean we don't welcome suggestions, in fact we do. Please email the webmaster if
you have any queries or suggestions.
Why do I have a time limit on my login?
This is a security feature to help reduce the risk of unauthorised access.
If you leave your computer logged in, other people will not have unlimited
access to it.
If your time limit expires, simply log in again.
Can anyone else edit my information?
Only you and the National Secretariat can edit your information.
Can I change my password?
You can change your password as often as you like. There is a maximum
of 8 characters (a mixture of letters and numbers).
What if I forget my password?
Contact the National Secretariat at
.

What are the long term plans for the site?
